Monument "The tent of the first builders"

The monument "The First Tent" is a romantic symbol of the era of the first five-year plans, which became a symbol of modern Magnitogorsk.

It was opened on May 9, 1966, on the days of the gathering of the first builders, to whom the monument was dedicated.

The architectural and sculptural composition is included in the park area with access to the factory pond and is oriented to Sverdlov Square.

On the pedestal poems of the famous Soviet poet, laureate of the State Prize of the RSFSR, pioneer Magnitka B.A. Rucieva:

"We lived in a tent with a green window washed by rains, dried by the sun, and burned at the door were golden bonfires on the red stones of the Magnetic Mountain."

These words reveal the main idea of the monument. Because of the shortage of housing, first-builders of Magnitogorsk in the 1930s had to live in tents.

An important role in the composition is played by a sculptural element - a hand carefully lifting a piece of iron ore. The total height of the monument is 6 meters;material concrete; sculptural detail - the hand is cast in cast iron. Sculptor - L.N. Golovnitsky, architect - E.V. Alexandrov. The tent is placed in such a way that a panorama of PJSC "Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works" is visible through it.
