You need to know this!

The coming autumn-winter season is the time of the traditional rise in the incidence of acute respiratory infections. At this time, it is especially important to observe preventive measures, because it is difficult for a person's body, weakened by a cold, to protect itself from more serious viral diseases, for example, pneumonia.

Every day, an average of 50 to 80 people are hospitalized in medical institutions in Magnitogorsk with symptoms of acute infectious and viral diseases. And we are talking not only about COVID-19, but also pneumonias, which pose no less danger to the human immune system than the coronavirus.

The symptoms of pneumonia can be easily confused with SARS and flu: fever, cough, runny nose, as well as headache and chills. That is why people are often in no hurry to see a doctor, but begin self-medication - they take various medications, for example, against cough or lowering the temperature.

However, it is precisely this unconscious behavior that can lead to serious consequences. Indeed, after the appearance of the first symptoms, damage to the lung tissue begins, which can only be detected by X-ray examination and computed tomography, and the treatment itself includes a whole range of procedures.

Pneumonia occurs in acute or chronic forms, while both one lung and two are affected. Moreover, the virus can negatively affect other organs, which can cause additional complications, for example, pulmonary edema and acute cardiopulmonary failure. And in severe cases, a fatal outcome is not excluded. At the same time, patients experience a weakening of the immune system, due to which the body can also be attacked by a bacterial or fungal infection.

Doctors emphasize that children under five and people over 65, as well as people with a weakened immune system (for example, patients with diabetes, AIDS, cancer, etc.) and those with chronic diseases, smokers and alcohol abusers, are most at risk of the disease.

To protect your body, you need to follow a few simple rules:

1. With the onset of cold weather, hypothermia should be avoided, dress appropriately for the weather. Rooms in which people spend a lot of time should be regularly ventilated. Wet cleaning is also considered an important preventive measure.

2. During the period of rising seasonal morbidity, it is necessary to minimize visits to crowded places. If the need arises, it is recommended to use a mask that protects the respiratory organs from the penetration of infections.

3. In addition, an important preventive measure is influenza vaccination, which must be given before the onset of the epidemiological period.
