With thanks for the heroism
Magnitogorsk has a rich labor history. In the year of the centenary of the birth of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, MMK produced 200 million tons of steel and the city fulfilled the five-year plan for the development of industrial production ahead of schedule. During the Great Patriotic War, Magnitogorsk played a large role in the industrialization of the country and made a significant contribution to the defeat of the Nazi invaders. For outstanding services to the Fatherland, courage and massive labor heroism, Magnitka was awarded the honorary title "City of Labor Valor and Glory."
A significant event occurred on April 7, 2015. Four years later, on the day of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Magnitogorsk, the order for conferring the honorary title was delivered to our city. In a solemn atmosphere, the mayor Sergey Berdnikov received a distinction from the hands of the acting chairman of the Interstate Union of Hero-Cities and Cities of Military Glory Alexei Makarychev and the organization’s Executive Director Alexei Tkachev.
The memorable order was handed over for permanent storage to the Magnitogorsk Local History Museum. At present, it is on display at the “Forward Frontier of MMK” exhibition, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the city.
“During the Great Patriotic War, the battle was fought not only at the front, but also in the rear,” said museum director Alexander Ivanov. - Magnitka gave metal and forged Victory in the Urals. I hope that the descendants will keep the memory of the events of that time and will not allow the rewriting of history. This is very important for all of us. ”
